William Herbert Rooke (Known as Bert)
William Herbert (Bert) Rooke was my uncle. His parents were Thomas James Rooke and Mary Kemp Rooke (nee Rowe). His siblings were: - Thomas Alan Reuben Rooke, Leslie John Rooke, Stanley Malcolm Rooke and Doris May Rooke.
Uncle Bert owned a crockery & hardware shop at 117 Ryrie St, Geelong, 3220.
He was a Justice of the Peace and was a member of the Corio Bay Rowing Club and for several years was a commentator at the Public Schools Head of the River Regatta on the Barwon River and at all rowing regattas held on the Barwon River.
He also at one time was the Commander of "T.S.Barwon" the Geelong unit of Sea Cadets.
He married Mercia Anderson and had one daughter, Judith.
His home was 1 McMillan Ave, Drumcondra, 3218.
Bert was a member of the Drumcondra Bowls Club and played regularly.
