William James Bishop of Melbourne, VIC Australia was born on July 3, 1882 in Campbells Creek, Mount Alexander Shire County to John James Bishop and Mary Shugg Bishop. He had siblings Joseph Arthur Bishop, Horace Eddy Bishop, Myrtle Mary Amelia Bishop, Thomas John Bishop, Cecil Ivey Bishop, and Vivian Richard Bishop. He married Clara Bowyer in 1906, and had children William Frank Bishop, Marjorie Clare Bishop, Phillip Lewis Bishop, and Dorothy Mary Durrant. William Bishop died at age 78 years old on December 3, 1960 in Melbourne.

"Criminals, the insane, or any person unable to take care of him or herself" were not allowed in the U.S. according to the Act. It also imposed a "head tax" on non-citizens entering the U.S.

In 1931, by the time he was 49 years old, on May 1st, the Empire State Building opened in New York City.
