William L. Hancock Jr. Mr. William Lee Hancock Jr., age 77, of Florence, departed this life Saturday, April 8, 2006, at ECM Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Trumann, Ark., and has lived in Florence for the past 54 years. He was a member of Springfield First Baptist Church, Rogersville, an ordained Baptist minister and former pastor of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, a mechanic most of his life and retired from Martin Industries in 1994. Visitation was Sunday evening at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service was at 1 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2006, at Springfield First Baptist Church, Rogersville, with burial following in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Officiating were Brother Audie Bogus and Brother Donnie McDaniel. Mr. Hancock was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Flora Laverne Hancock; daughter, Vicki Hancock Gray; parents, William Lee Sr. and Jennie Mae Hancock; brothers, James, Arlie, Alvin, Robert and Walter Hancock; sisters, Ruth Hancock, Nina Lowery, Mable Davis, Helen Banks and Lois Lowery. He is survived by four daughters, Flora Jane Hancock Snow and husband, Chuck, of Wetumpka, Ala., Deborah Ann Hancock Howard and husband, Phil, of Killen, Shelia Darleen Hancock, of Florence, and Melanie Leigh Hancock Baker and husband, Tommy, of Killen; brother, Paul Hancock, of Kansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Shannon Goree, Eddie Snow, Jared and Todd Gray, Allison Jones, Matt and Dan Howard and Whitney and Bridget Baker; three great-grandchildren, Chris Spires, Chloe Snow and Parker Jones; many loving nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Eddie Snow, Todd Gray, Matt and Dan Howard and Norman and Floyd Hancock. Honorary pallbearers were Gray, Chris Spires, Allen Goree and Josh Jones. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Drs. Lumpkins, Ashley, Ba'Albaki, Holden, and Morris for their diligent work and tender care of our precious father. To the nursing staff in the cardiac care unit, we appreciate all your care for our father and your kindness to the family. To our church families and many friends, a sincere thank you for the many acts of love, kindness and prayers. Greenview Funeral Home, of Florence, is directing.
