    The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser, 16 July 1891. MOORE.- At his residence, Guyra, on June 10th, William Moore, sen., a native of the north of Ireland. Had been an old resident of Scone, Hunter River. Aged, 67 years. Leaves a wife, four sons, and two daughters to mourn their loss.

His father, John Adams, was the second President of the United States and he was the only President who didn't win outright in the general election but was voted in by the House of Representatives.

In 1838, he was merely 13 years old when on February 24th, Representatives William J. Graves (Kentucky) and Jonathan Cilley (Maine) fought a duel with rifles. They faced off at 94 yards. Cilley was hit on Graves' third try - in the femoral artery - and bled to death on the dueling field. The Panic of 1837 and Jackson's presidency had caused an extremely partisan Congress and the duel was a result.
