  • Introduction

    Yoko Matsuo was a child prodigy violinist. Her accompanist was pianist, Sula Levitch whom she married in 1963 in New York. Two years later he had passed away and she had his daughter. Yoko was always known by her stage name: Yoko Matsuo. In addition to concerts, she was constantly employed as a studio violinist because she could play in any genre. She was a Buddhist and her local Temple commemorated her life (1926-1985) 35 years after she had died in 2017.

    Yoko Matsuo was a successful violinist. LEVITCH, SULA married a bride named YOKO MATSUO in the year 1963 on license number 11310 issued in Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S.A. LEVITCH, SULA was born 01 September 1902, received Social Security number 090-14-6713 (indicating New York) and, Death Master File says, died October 1965 LEVITCH, YOKO was born 22 March 1926, received Social Security number 054-28-1514 (indicating New York) and, Death Master File says, died January 1985. Yoko Matsuo, the young Japanese-born American violinist, gave a concert in Town Hall late yesterday afternoon. Miss Matsuo was a 1955 Naumburg Award winner, but this was her first New York concert since that time. Sula Levitch was the assisting pianist.
