Mystery Man

Photo belonged to the Powell family of Newark, NJ. His last name could be Powell, Hamilton, Ballentine, Ward, Pridham, or Grout. Photographer's stamp reads, "Stoutenburgh & Rose, Photographers, 244 & 246 Broad St, Newark, NJ."

Does anyone know this man's name and/or if he still has family living? I would like to return photos to his family.

Can anyone tell me if this is Marcus L. Ward (1812-1884), the 28th governor of NJ, married to Susan Morris, buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Newark, NJ?
