Aaron Terrell Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, Sept 13, 2013, with his loving family around him.

He was born March 8, 1930, in Hialeah, Fla., to Aaron Sr. and Edith Johnson. He and his wife Lillian Johnson were long-time residents of Anaconda, Aaron moving there when he was discharged from the Army after his service in Korea. He was a graduate from high school in ldaho then joined the Army, where he served with distinction.

He was active in the Shriners, the American Legion, VFW, DAV, the Elks, and the Eagles Lodge. As a Shriner, he helped sponsor many, many children's travel expenses to the Shriners Hospital.

Aaron was the beloved husband of Lillian, and father of Terri Lee Johnson Menzel (Craig), and Cary Johnson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rodney Zamudio (Melissa), Cristina Troup (Kyle); and his great-grandchildren, Jennica Faith Menzel Corr, Henry Troup, Conner Zamudio, and Avery Zamudio. He is also survived by his sisters, Wanda Takao and Ellen Unruh; sister-in-law, Rosemary Johnson (Ray); and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.


He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Cary, and brother, Ray Johnson.

Aaron was an exceptionally kind and generous man, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside military memorial will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Shriners Children's Hospital.

My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
