Adam Joshua Johnson was truly chosen - chosen both by his earthly parents and by his Heavenly Father. Adam now rests with Jesus, after twenty-four years on earth. Born July 31, 1984 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Adam died January 8, 2009 in Oklahoma City. A graduate of Edmond North High School and the Academy of Recording Arts in Oklahoma City, Adam was a gifted and versatile musician and songwriter. As a well-known street musician, Adam played everywhere from the sidewalks of Brick Town in Oklahoma City, to the subways of New York City. From earliest childhood he proved to be a natural-born helper and unselfish giver of himself. He was a frequent donor at the Oklahoma Blood Institute, participated in street outreach programs for the homeless, and volunteered as a technical consultant for the National Child Abuse Task Force, the National Crisis Intervention Training Institute, and Way Out of the Box. Adam had a heart for God and for helping people, and in spite of his own adversities and challenges, never neglected to help a friend in need or crisis. He regularly attended The Edge Church in Edmond, OK.
He is survived by his Mom, Debra Linville his Dad, Joel Johnson, his Step-Mom, Barb Johnson his grandparents, Glenn and Joan Alldredge and his step-siblings, Natalie Gregg and Tim Linville. Other survivors include: Aunt Linda and Uncle Steve Hood, Aunt Diane and Uncle Ed Schmidt, Uncle Ken and Aunt Jeri Johnson, Uncle Dan Alldredge, his cousins, Ian Hood, Paul and Elizabeth Schmidt, Mallory and Jordan Johnson, as well as a host of friends whose lives he touched.
Memorial services will be presided over by his Pastor, Rev. Israel Hogue, and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond, OK.
As a memorial gift in Adam's honor, please give of yourself. Go out and help someone in need today. Adam would have wanted it that way.
