Interestingly my mother has a pocket watch presented to my great grandmother by widow of
2nd Lieutenant D. A. C. LAYMAN (died of wounds)-22nd february 1916.

I can only make an assumption that my great grandfather had helped get 2nd Lieutenant Layman off the battlefield in which he later died in a field hospital his personal possessions handed back to his wife in which was engraved and presented to my great grandmother after or during the war.
