she must have been remarkable. for a woman in that era to graduate both school and college and get married was an accomplishment. she also looked like she had an amazing honeymoon and life!

Erica L. Thompson She was remarkable! Her story was so poignant. She lost her mother to TB when she was only six. Her father was very well-off and they lived in a beautiful home in Sioux City, Iowa. Two years after her mother died, he remarried to her mother‘s younger sister, and had 11 more children. My grandmother graduated from college in 1914 and taught Home Economics and Nutrition to high school girls. She had a fantastic, beautiful wedding and a four month honeymoon in California. Then the depression hit and her attorney husband had to become a farmer! No one could afford a lawyer. Her life changed 180°. She raised four kids (who all became teachers), on a farm in Nebraska, moved to California after becoming widowed in the 1940s, and lived to be almost 98! She continued her whole life, to cook and sew for her 16 grandchildren and made and sold hundreds of Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls, right up to the day she died.

Marilyn, I’m her granddaughter and I used to look at her wedding photos as s child and think the same thing!

Theresa Doss she's a beautiful bride but that was the second thing I noticed about the picture. She appears to be a daughter of a well to do family so the shoes surprised me. I guess we should take into consideration the science of shoe making then was not of the standard of today's.

Lulu Gonzalez Anne was my grandma and that beautiful dress was also worn by mother in 1950 and by my sister in 1973! We still have the dress, the veil and the gloves.
