Benjamin Franklin Huckaby, Jr. September 17, 1944 - June 27, 2021 OBITUARY CONDOLENCES SERVICES Chesapeake- Benjamin F. (Tom) Huckaby, Jr 9/17/44 – 6/27/21 On June 27th, 2021, Tom Huckaby took his last breath, surrounded by those he loved and who loved him dearly. He was a proud DAD to 2 sons, Rick and Darryll, daughter, Danielle, and 2 stepdaughters Dawn and Paula. Pawpaw/Grandpa to Chloe, Joshua, Austin, Declan, Kayla, Sabrina, Lisa, & Jordan. He was Father-in-law to Mike and Tina. He was Butch to his mother, father, sisters Ginny, Dee, Pat, and brother, Kenny. Uncle Butch to his nephew Robert & niece Frances. He was Poppa Tom to Monica and Melissa and countless others who he adopted as his honorary kids. He was Butch/Tom/Honey to his first wife and forever friend, Sandy. He is proceeded in death by his mother, Emma “Terri” Huckaby, his father, “Huck” Sr, brother Kenny Huckaby, sister, Ginny Huckaby, son, Rick Huckaby, and wife, Karen Huckaby. He was known for his wit, which included a non-stop litany of ‘Bad Dad Jokes’, his love of flirting just to bring a smile to every woman’s face even though he couldn’t see it, his gentleness, his compassion and his generosity. He was unfailingly kind, though life was not always kind to him. It seemed to take and take and take; his eyesight, his mobility, loved ones, even the feel and taste of food in his mouth the last few months of his life. Through it all, he maintained an unwavering positive attitude. He had a passion for people. He led a colorful life with a tapestry of stories to tell from growing up in Brooklyn, NY, to his time in the Navy, to working as a dispatcher for the City of Norfolk, and many years he spent as a member of the Moose Lodge. He was many things to many people. Father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, son, and friend. Above all, HE WAS LOVED!

For fifty years I have been a Document Examiner and that is how I earn my living. For over 50 years I have also been a publicist for actors, singers, writers, composers, artists, comedians, and many progressive non-profit organizations. I am a Librettist-Composer of a Broadway musical called, "Nellie Bly" and I am in the process of making small changes to it. In addition, I have written over 100 songs that would be considered "popular music" in the genre of THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK.
My family consists of four branches. The Norwegians and The Italians and the Norwegian-Americans and the Italian Americans.
