I have in my possession an old photograph of Bessie STREBIN which appears to have been taken some time between 1907 and 1920. Bessie appears to be in her teens at the time the photograph was taken. There is no studio or location identified on the photograph, though it was found in Oregon. Bessie is holding a basketball in the photograph with A.H.S. Champ written on the ball. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Bessie and her family:
Bessie Josephine STREBIN was b. 30 Oct 1893 in Troutdale, OR to parents Samuel Benjamin STREBIN (1857-1917) and Olive Louisa WHEELER (1862-1937) who were married in 1885. Bessie was one of four children born to this couple including John Curtis; Jennie Marie; Bessie Josephine; and Robert Samuel STREBIN, all born between 1888 and 1895. Bessie married Joseph Antone SCHNEIDER (1890-1941) and they had a daughter, Frances Jean SCHNEIDER (1923-1995). Bessie died 11 Jun 1967 in Troutdale, OR and was buried in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland, OR.
I am hoping to be able to return the photograph to Bessie’s family, so if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me.
