Escaped on 09 February 1864 at Libby Prison, Richmond, VA [Escaped through tunnel]. Returned on 30 March 1864. Mustered out Company H, 123rd Infantry Regiment Ohio on 24 July 1864. - - - Captain David S. Caldwell wrote "Incidents of War and Southern Prison Life".
