CARL HUBBELL, the legendary pitcher & Hall of Famer, was born on this date in 1903.
Master of the screwball, "King Carl" is perhaps best remembered for striking out 5 future Hall of Famers in a row in the 1934 All-Star Game.
What I find incredible is that from the time he made his Major League debut in 1928 until he died in 1988, he worked for the Giants as a player, executive, and scout.
That's 60 years!
