After 28 years of marriage, Lechia Moody Holbrook, 73, and Chris Holbrook, 78, of Dyersburg, passed away within one week of each other. Chris died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 and Lechia died Tuesday, November 10, 2020, both at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. The family finds comfort in knowing that Chris was there to hold the gate to welcome Lechia to their new heavenly home.
Lechia was born April 21, 1947 to the late Ernest Lloyd and Hazel Moody. In addition to caring for her family, Lechia was a licensed cosmetologist owning her own business, Lechia’s Salon. She was an avid gardener and was awarded Beauty Spot of the Week multiple times and hosted many events in her back yard paradise.
Born August 4, 1942, Chris is the son of the late James Marbry and Ruth Eileen Stoehr Holbrook. Chris was a member of The Gideons International. He was the retired manager of the Tennessee Vocational Rehabilitation in Union City. Chris was inducted into the Hall of Fame at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, MS, played football at University of Tennessee at Martin. After completing his Masters Degree at Memphis State University, he was a history teacher and football coach at Obion County Central High School.
Lechia and Chris were both active members of Three Oaks Baptist Church.
Celebration of Life services will be Friday, November 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Three Oaks Baptist Church with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Lechia’s survivors include one daughter, Penny Moody Faulk (Mike); one son, Lloyd “Bubba” Smith; two brothers, Chucky Moody (Vicki), Freddie Cherry (Penny), both of Dyersburg; one sister, Harriett Murphy of Bartlett; many nieces and nephews, including Christopher Moody and Monica Moody Zuschlag who she and Chris loved and considered as their grandchildren.
Chris’ survivors include his son, Brad Holbrook (Susan) of Dyersburg; one brother, David Holbrook; one grandchild, Levi Madison Holbrook; one great-grandchild, Weston Lane Holbrook, all of Dyersburg and two nephews and four nieces.
In addition to their parents, they were preceded in death by a brother Ernest Lloyd “Moody Joe” Moody, Jr., Buddy Holbrook, Leonard Holbrook, Glen Holbrook and one niece.
Cremation services are under the direction of Curry Funeral Home.
