Clarence Frederick Pitts
Clarence Frederick Pitts was born on January 18, 1923 to parents Henry Alfred Pitts (1886-1956) and Elda Mae Stevens (1890-1952). His family moved to Wekiwa, Tulsa, Oklahoma during the depression and "Burr", as he was known, grew up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma with siblings including Ralph Jerome (1909-1983), Thelma Laverne (1911-1986), Agnes Mae (1913-1997), Henry James (1915-1979), Elizabeth M (1919-1993), Romsemarie (1925-), and Gerlad Pitts (1933-). Clarence volunteered to join the US Army in September 1941 shortly after his graduation from Sand Springs High School in May of the same year. After enlisting, Clarence underwent basic training, where he acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to serve in the military. Subsequently, he was assigned to the 8th Air Force, a vital part of the US Army Air Force. As the war came to an end in Europe, Clarence was honorably discharged from active service following Victory in Europe (VE) Day, which marked the end of hostilities in Europe on May 8, 1945. After his time in the military, on September 10, 1947 he married Twyla Hulblernead in Grayson, Texas, USA. The couple had two children together.
