Clarence Ora Spencer was the son of parents James Grant Spencer (1864-1953) and Cynthia Caroline Bell (1866-1959). He was born on January 1, 1866 in Alton, Kansas. Clarence had siblings James Claude (born 1887), Nellie Gertrude (1890-1980), Ethel Viola (1891-1966), Elsie Ceola (1891-1979), Ira Hugh (1893-1982), Mary Emeline (born 1896), Robert Earl (1899-1964), Grace Lois (born 1904), and Rex Lewis Spencer (1904-1976). They grew up in Bryant, Graham, Kansas, USA. He married Lena Margaret Nickelson (1890-1964) and had children Chester Elroy (1909-1992), Theodore Everett (1912-2002), Paul Alston (1917-1999), and Clarence Ora "June" Spencer Jr (1923-2008).
