Daniel Holbrook Obituary
Daniel E. Holbrook

Daniel Elroy Holbrook, 64, of Weston, passed away at Aspirus Hospice House, on Monday, March 10, 2014. He was born in Wausau to Vernon and Evelyn (Hendrickson) Holbrook on February 21, 1950. He grew up in Wausau, in the hollow, and was a life-long resident of the area.

Daniel was employed for 42 years at Marathon Electric (Regal Beloit) as a Laboratory Technician. He enjoyed being outside bird hunting with his son-in-law, Jarrod. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his family in St. Germain. Daniel and his brother, Alfred, spent time together searching different antique stores for antique radios and electronics to add to his collection. He was an avid reader of science fiction, history, World War II, and outer space. Daniel loved his family and always valued the time spent with his daughters and granddaughters, especially the picnics and cookouts during the summer and holidays. He also always enjoyed the company of his dog, Jasmine.

Daniel is survived by his former wife and friend, Elaine of Wausau; daughters, Tracy (Jarrod) Koss of Merrill and Jaime (Matt) Zimmerman of Marshfield; grandchildren, Mallory, Jessa, and Jasmine; mother-in-law, Maryjane Radtke; brothers, Wayne (Missy) Holbrook and Alfred Holbrook; sisters, Sue (Doug) Laffin, Pen Bruess, and Jane (Rich) Frohm; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Evelyn; brothers, Robert and John; and brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law.

A memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine, at a later date.

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
