Daniel was born to Willam Holbrook and Elaine Holbrook (nee O'Neill). The Holbrooks had seven children and lived in Chicago. William died of pancreatic cancer in 1959 in his late 30's. In 1960, Jack Duggan married Elaine and moved in with Elaine and her seven children including Daniel. Jack and Elaine had four more children and moved to Wheaton in 1969. Daniel first attended Monroe Jr. High and then St. Francis High School both in Wheaton. Daniel was involved in a number of activities at St. Francis including being the tight end on the football team. In addition, Daniel worked at Dominick's for a number of years while in school. Daniel also was a natural at woodwork and built a number of tables in various classes. Daniel (or Danny as a number of his siblings called him) graduated from Loyola University in Chicago where he met is futre wife Maureen Tyrell. Dan and Maureen married and had five children. In 1998 Danny had a check up related to minor stomach problems which was surpirsingly diagnosed as pancreatic cancer (like his father). Danny fought hard for a year to beat this cancer. Unfortunately, Danny passed away in his house in Naperville on March 27th 1999. Danny was known for his good sense of humor and kind nature. He is a hero to anyone who knew him for the way he fought his cancer with grace and dignity. He left this world far too early and I, his brother Tom, miss him.

Danny was fortunate to have two great fathers - William C. Holbrook - who, unfortunately died when Danny was young and John B. Duggan - who married Danny's mother Elaine and helped raise the Holbrook children. Here is a link to John B. Duggan (unfortunately, Find a Grave has no good way to show both fathers):

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
