David Arthur Holbrook 1968 - 2022 Sioux Falls, South Dakota

David Arthur Holbrook, age 54, passed away December 21, 2022. He was born March 29, 1968 at McKennan Hospital to Arthur and Donna Holbrook in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

After his birth the doctors told mom that he would not live and that he was not viable they even had the pastor come and pray with the family. They even named his god parents right away, David and God had other plans he not only lived he went home with his family. The doctors said he would never walk, talk or sit up or even eat on his own. After some surgeries to his leg and wearing braces on legs and feet his feet were finally pointing forward. As a child David had become a bright spot for the family he was always happy never complained or whined about anything he was learning to sit up and talk it was a long road but it was happening. As he grew up his personality also started to grow, he loved people even if they were not nice to him, he started to go to Sioux vocational services where he was learning how to work and live they taught life skills which he loved to learn eventually he was working and living in a group home his life was looking up. Everyone loved his sense of humor he loved to tease. Always had a smile and a greeting if he knew your name, he would always greet you by name. Even after getting cancer and going through treatment still had no complaints and still smiled, David was a true miracle and a blessing it was and honor to know and have as a brother or a friend.

He is survived by his siblings, Gregg (Crystal) Holbrook, Paul Holbrook and Colleen Holbrook; nieces, Caitlyn (Dustin) Guischer, Clare Watts and Piper Watts; numerous family and friends.

Debby Stevens
I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
