Delver was a hard working blue collar man. He fought as a marine paratrooper in Iwojima and was awarded a purple heart for his valor; injured in combat. He worked for Southern California Edison for 30 years, retiring as a foreman in Southern California (Buena Park / Anaheim). He retired with his wife Peggy Maney near his family, daughter Lana Avila and grandson Alan Avila, in Lemoore California where he passed his time with friends over good jokes.
