Delesha Rachel Williams lived in Kansas City Missouri, and Grandview Montana, and on her grave she is described as a "loving mother, daughter, and sister".
She was murdered by Bovi Lamonte Combs, who was 29 at the time and was convicted of first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit first degree murder. Also charged was Shecora D. Clanton, 21, the girlfriend of Combs. Police claimed that she was a co-conspirator. Bovi was sentenced to a "Hard 50" life sentence, plus 59 months imprisonment. He is serving the sentence in Virginia, and appealed the sentence in 2017 but the conviction was upheld.
The crime was particularly brutal. According to The Iola Register, on June 6th, 2001: ". . . hitting her with a hammer, choking her with a cord and sticking an acid filled syringe in her neck. When that didn't work, her attackers slashed Williams repeatedly with two kitchen knives, then stomped on her face as she lay on the floor of her home. . . . But Williams was still alive."
"Authorities believe her killers then put Williams in the back of the (rental) truck and drove off. Realizing Williams was not dead, they drove the truck over her three or four times before dropping a large log onto her head." A third person was charged in the case on June 8, 2001. Andrew Jackson, 42, of Kansas City was also charged with conspiracy to commit first degree murder. Jackson surrendered to police on June 9th. Jackson appealed his conviction but the original conviction was upheld: STATE v. JACKSON (2005)
See Combs v. Robinson - appeal, sentence upheld May 2007 to read the facts of the case as presented in US District Court D, Kansas and where Bovi Lamonte Combs claimed that he thought that Delesha had killed his sister. There was no evidence of this claim.

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come.
I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
