Delis had two sisters, Edna Mae and Fletta C.. A veteran of the United States Army, Delis enlisted on December 17, 1945 in Camp Pickett in Virginia. He was a private who served during World War II. Delis Hill married Adeline Bell (11926 - 2001) on September 30th, 1947 in Rossville, Walker County, Georgia. They had two children: one son, James Leroy, born 1947 and one daughter, Joyce Fay, born 1948. He died at the age of 67 on November 21st, 1993, in Andersonville, Tennessee and is buried in Andersonville.
