Douglas Fairbanks Mason was born on December 11, 1921 in De Valls Bluff, Arkansas United States to Stephen Harry Mason and Mary Pearl (Garrison) Mason, and had siblings Harry C. Mason, Wesley Mason, Frances Juanita (Mason), and Marion Jean (Mason). He married Dorothy Naomi (Forehand) Mason on May 21, 1944 at Courthouse in Camden County, NC and they later divorced on May 20, 1948 at Norfolk, VA in Norfolk, Virginia. They had a child Douglas Yates Mason. He married Dolly Leaverne (Higgerson) Mason on February 7, 1949 at South Norfolk in Chesapeake, and they were married until Douglas' death on October 12, 2007 in Virginia Beach. They had children Diane Kay (Mason) Gray and Gerald Douglas Mason.
