She married Elmer Dietrich Friedrich Dettmer on October 12, 1944 in Syracuse, Otoe County, and they were married until Norma's death on January 14, 2005. She had a child Dee Ann (Dettmer) Young. Norma Dettmer was buried at Park Hill Cemetery in Syracuse, Otoe County.
