Ernest Conant
I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of Ernest CONANT which was taken at the Wilber & Bassett Studio in Erie, PA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880’s with Ernest likely in his 30’s at the time. In addition someone notes on the back that Ernest is the son of Hannah CONANT. Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a CONANT Family Researcher I know the following about Ernest and his family:

Ernest F. CONANT was b. 26 Mar 1847 to Horatio N. CONANT and Hannah Stanwood BAILEY (b. 8 Jun 1817 in Pelham, MA – dau of Rev Winthrop BAILEY and Martha STANWOOD). The couple was married in New York on 26 Jun 1842 and lived in Milwaukee, WI where Horatio died 20 Sept 1859. The couple had three children including, Ella Stanwood (b. 16 Mar 1843-d. 27 Jan 1847); Ernest; and Frederick Holland CONANT (b. 18 Jun 1849-d. 26 Feb 1854). Ernest died 26 Dec 1884 in Philadelphia, PA and is buried in the Eric Cemetery in Erie, PA. Death records indicate that he was a widower and that his occupation was Salesman. His Mother Hannah was living with her brother, Francis BAILEY during the 1880 census of Erie, PA.

I’m hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.

Thanks,
Shelley
