Frank NILES
I have in my possession an old photograph identified as Frank NILES which was taken at the H. R. Buser Studio in Cedar Rapids, IA sometime in the 1880's. Frank appears to be in his 20's at the time it was taken. In addition to his name someone has written "Dad bunk mate in company H 6 Iowa Cavelery". Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Frank and his family:
Frank Clinton NILES was b. 16 Nov 1864 in Wyoming, IA to parents Harvey NILES (1833-1908) and Huldah Jane GLEASON (1835-1908). Frank was one of four children born to this couple including Jennie Gertrude; Frank Clinton; Jewett Buell or Buel; and Lela or Lelia M. NILES, all born between 1861 and 1883. Frank married Margaret or Margarite or Marguret or Marguerite “Maggie” L. BROWN (1874-1925) on 1 Jun 1893 in Anamosa, IA and they had 6 children including Hazel Mae or May; Genevive or Genevieve Brown; Clifford Horace; Mildred Luelle; Harvey Jeffery; and Marie C. NILES, all born between 1893 and 1909.
Frank died 27 Jan 1940 in Cedar Rapids or Iowa City, IA and is buried in the Riverside Cemetery in Anamosa, IA.
I am hoping to return the photograph to the care of family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family or know someone who might be.
Thanks,
Shelley
