Frank came from very humble beginnings, but didn't complain about it. His father was permanently hospitalized with a serious head injury. His mother was ill with cancer. Older brother Paul died in an almshouse because doctors misdiagnosed his appendicitis. Frank moved to a new state on his own, at a young age, with little education. When he lost his eye while working at an auto factory, they fired him. That didn't stop him from trying. When Packard permanently closed down, the year before he would have been eligible for retirement pension, he started over at a Chrysler factory. He worked hard , and did his best. He successfully built a stable life, and raised his family.
