Jacqueline Emily Witte
Jacqueline "Jackie" Emily Witte was born to Frank Theophilus Witte (1888 - 1971) and Irene E Telgman (1895 - 1990). According to the 1940 Federal Census, when Jackie was eleven she was living with her parents Frank (who was 51) and Irene (45 at the time) in Beloit, Wisconsin, was in the 5th grade, and her father owned a meat market. Jackie was an aspiring actor, and when she was 19 met her future husband, 24 year old U.S. Navy veteran Paul Newman (1926 - 2008). They were living in the same small town and did theater work together. There is a mention of "Paul Newman and Jacqueline Witte play the parts of Dr. Bradman and his wife, doing a workman like job of creating the middle-aged couple." in The Daily Sentinel on Saturday February 11th 1950. Jacqueline and Paul eventually moved to work at a Woodstock theatre company in Illinois and the two married in Beloit, Wisconsin on December 27, 1949 (See Jacqueline Witte Is Married To Paul Newman) and were married for nine years. The couple had a son Scott Newman, and two daughters Stephanie and Susan Kendall Newman. Their son Scott died on November 30th 1978 due to an accidental overdose (See Actor's son dies). After Jackie and Paul divorced, she lead a private life - out of the public spotlight. See Jackie Witte: The Revealing Story of Paul Newman’s First Wife.

I want to build a place where my son can meet his great-grandparents. My grandmother Marian Joyce (Benning) Kroetch always wanted to meet her great-grandchildren, but she died just a handful of years before my son's birth. So while she didn't have the opportunity to meet him, at least he will be able to know her. For more information about what we're building see About AncientFaces. My father's side is full blood Sicilian and my mother's side is a combination of Welsh, Scottish, German and a few other European cultures. One of my more colorful (ahem black sheep) family members came over on the Mayflower. He was among the first to be hanged in the New World for a criminal offense he made while onboard the ship.
