We lived in Alaska nearly six years and here we are harvesting root veges from the community garden on Ft. Richardson, Alaska. I enjoyed gardening and roughing it in the woods pretending to be part of the Lewis & Clark explorers or Daniel Boone.
We buried a cross in a box by our our base housing and left a note in case anyone found it, if and when there was an atomic blast that would destroy our living quarters and anything else standing in the way. Watching an atomic bomb testing documentary on TV really was a wake-up call for a young 4th grader. I prayed every night for peace.
