Gary G. Holbrook, 71, of Waldo, WI 1951 - 2022 Waldo, Wisconsin

Gary G. Holbrook, 71, of Waldo, WI passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice on June 29th, 2022. He was born on April 21, 1951 and raised in Waldo, WI, as the youngest of three children born to Glenn and Gladys (Klug) Holbrook. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1969. On March 14, 1987, he was united in marriage to Tammy A. Leonard at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Gary worked as a prison guard at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institute for 27 years before retiring in 2002. His greatest joys in life were playing softball, fishing in Canada, recreational camping and playing Fantasy Football with his good friends Don Block and Tom Bailey. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Gladys Holbrook, his sister-in-law Christine Holbrook and his brother-in-law James Morgan. Gary is survived by his wife, Tammy; his two daughters, Holly (Jason) Schilling of Plymouth and Mackenzie Holbrook of Lomira; as well as his three grandchildren, Melody, Quinten and Owen. His brother and sister, William Holbrook of Sheboygan and Susan Morgan of Fond du Lac, also survive him as well as in-laws, Eugene and Cleo Leonard of Kiel, Randy (Ann) Leonard of Kiel, Wendy (Jim) Lubach of Plymouth, Lori (Mark) Quinnett of Kansas and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Gary will take place at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 8th at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth, followed by food and fellowship. Pastor Pete Lillestolen, Pastor of Plymouth Alliance Church, will officiate. Per his wishes, his ashes will be cemented in a memorial bench. In remembrance of Gary’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Sharon S. Richardson Hospice, whose compassionate care made all the difference. I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
