Gayl J. Mineo 1943 - 2016 NEW HARTFORD - Gayl J. Mineo, 73, of New Hartford, died after a brief illness on Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Siegenthaler Center, with her loving husband by her side. She was born on March 2, 1943, in Utica, only child of Ione Miller Thomas and the late William Thomas. Gayl graduated from New Hartford High School in 1961 and married Ronald Mineo on May 29, 1965, in St. Thomas Church, New Hartford. She worked at Utica Mutual; as a dental hygienist; at Myles Elementary School as a teacher's aide; and most recently with Zogby International as a supervisor. While at Zogby, she created many special friendships that she cherished. Gayl was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She had previously belonged to the Twin Ponds Golf League and a bowling league. She was an Avon representative for many years, happily providing this service to her friends and family. She was also a Lifetime Auxiliary Member of the New Hartford American Legion Post 1376, and she and her husband visited many other Posts up and down the East Coast during their travels to their favorite vacation destination, Myrtle Beach. Gayl looked forward to the time she spent with her friends, Arlene Ruia and Barb Mozloom, their husbands often referring to them as the Golden Girls. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Mineo, of New Hartford; mother, Ione Thomas, of New Hartford; children, Deborah Fournier, of Whitesboro, William Mineo and his wife, Laurie, of Cassville, and Tina Barnhill and her husband, Brett, of Norcross, GA; grandchildren, Chayce, Dylan and Logan Fournier; brothers and sisters-in-law, Anthony and Antonia Mineo, of Lakewood, CO, Patrick and Linda Mineo, of Whitesboro, and Richard and Cindy Mineo, of Whitesboro; many nieces and nephews; cousins, Janet Mondi, Roger and Judy Bennett and Arlene and Fred Geraty; and special friends, Ruth Babowicz, Ardelle Tuckerman and George and Ann Snyder. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at the Siegenthaler Center and Crouse Irving Hospital for all the care given to Gayl. The funeral will be on Tuesday at 10:00 at St. Thomas Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. For fifty years I have been a Document Examiner and that is how I earn my living. For over 50 years I have also been a publicist for actors, singers, writers, composers, artists, comedians, and many progressive non-profit organizations. I am a Librettist-Composer of a Broadway musical called, "Nellie Bly" and I am in the process of making small changes to it. In addition, I have written over 100 songs that would be considered "popular music" in the genre of THE AMERICAN SONGBOOK.
My family consists of four branches. The Norwegians and The Italians and the Norwegian-Americans and the Italian Americans.
