George had the last name of Gabriele but Italians were feared and discriminated against because of the ruthlessness and stupidity of the Mafia and low-class gangsters. So many Italians chose the name Gabriel. If they were in certain professions they were likely to be working with Jewish bosses and some either converted to Judaism or married Jewish women or pretended to be Jewish. In any event, Jews very highly regarded as friends, co-workers or bosses.
