George was the son of George Marion Mulling, Sr. (1885-1961) and Maggie Viola "Ola" Denmark (1887-1937). On 30 Sep 1941, he was on the muster rolls of the U.S. Navy. He married on 30 May 1947 in Portsmouth, VA, to Freda Mae "Dolly" Mince (1925-2019) and was a corpsman in the Navy serving in Chicago, IL, at MRI Great Lakes; Cleveland, OH; Newport, RI; Detroit, MI, and Camp Lejeune, NC. He settled in Norfolk, VA, where he worked as a health inspector for the City of Norfolk and from where he retired after 20 years. George obtained a bachelor's degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, which he earned by going to nigh school for approximately 11 years. He and Freda had two children, one of whom did not survive. They resided at 8268 Baywood Ct in Norfolk from the 1950s until the end of their lives.
