Gr.Grandfather, John

I have no idea what uniform this is. Notice the #4 on it. He was born in Westphalen, Prussia. May be army uniform from there . Came to the U.S. sometime before 1855. First to New York, then Illinois, then Iowa. If anyone recognizes the uniform, please let me know.
