H. M. Perkins
I’ve “rescued” an old photograph of H. M. PERKINS which was taken at the T. A. Beach Studio in Delaware, OH. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870’s or 1880’s with Mr. PERKINS likely in his 50’s or 60’s at the time. In addition to his name, someone has also written “Mathematics” on the photograph suggesting that he was likely a teacher. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Mr. PERKINS and his family:
Dr. Hiram Mills PERKINS was b. 6 Nov 1833 in Marietta or New Plain City, OH to parents James W. PERKINS (1806-1867) and Jane MILLS (1815-1886). Hiram was one of three children born to this couple including, James M.; Hiram Mills; and Sarah Jane PERKINS all born between 1832 and 1836. Hiram and taught Mathematics at Ohio Wesleyan University from 1873 to 1907. Hiram married Caroline Amelia BARKDULL (1840-1923) and he died 25 Jan 1924 in Delaware, OH and is buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, OH.

Thanks,
Shelley
