Harold Daniel Holbrook June 10, 1937 - July 31, 2018 North Carolina

Harold Daniel Holbrook 81, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Holbrook was the son of David Holbrook and Edna Phillips Holbrook. He was a deacon of the Pound Fork Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Holbrook was a 1958 graduate of Ervinton High School and a retired auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant siblings, his grandson, Christopher Chambers and step-mother Mettie Deel Holbrook.



Survivors include his wife, Martilla Holbrook of Dante, four sons, David Holbrook and wife Sheila of Conley Springs, NC, Ira Holbrook and wife Nancy of Marshal, NC, Greg Holbrook and wife Doris of Newton, NC and William Holbrook of St. Paul, VA; two daughters, Sharon Adams and husband Bud of Eolia, KY, Mettie Lamb and husband Dana of Bailey, CO; ten grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.



Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 2nd at 11 AM in the Clintwood Funeral Chapel Church with Roger Fuller, Jim Duty and Noah Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Deel Family Cemetery, Bear Ridge Road, Dante. Pallbearers will be family and friends and honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the Pound Fork Primitive Baptist Church. Family will receive friends Wednesday, August 1st at the funeral home from 5PM until 7 PM, with a song service to begin at 7 PM.

My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
