Harrell J Doty

MEMPHIS - Harrell Jefferson Doty, 77, formerly of Biggersville, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at the Methodist South Hospital. He was born April 17, 1928, in Thrasher to the late Hubert J. and Mattie Derryberry Doty. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the 155 Infantry, Dixie Division, during the Korean War. He was a 1946 graduate of Biggersville High School. He had lived in Memphis since 1951, where he worked and retired in a sales position. He was a member of the Whitehaven Baptist Church and spent much time in Corinth where he attended the Biggersville United Methodist Church. He was an avid fan and owner of antique cars, especially Mustangs. He enjoyed and participated in numerous car shows. He was founder of the Mustangs of Memphis Car Club and served four years as president of Memphis Classic Thunderbirds. He was an active volunteer with Wings of West Clinic. Services will be at 6 p.m. today at the McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Glover officiating. Burial will be in the Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include one brother, Joe Doty and wife, Gail, of Biggersville; one nephew, George Harris and wife, Alisha; a great-nephew, Joey Harris; a great-niece, Janaka Harris, all of Biggersville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Anne Harris. Pallbearers will be Tommy Blunt, Garner Kuykendall, Bryan Byars, Bill Swan, Charlie Young, Ray Grant, Jack Darby, Roy Wimms, Gaylen Sanders, Edd May and Gerald Young. Visitation will be from 4 t o 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the West Clinic, 100 North Humphreys Blvd., Memphis, TN 38120.
