He married Myldred (Kuenning) Dettmer, and had children Robert Dettmer and Sandy (Dettmer) Trehearn. Harvey Henry Dettmer died at age 90 years old on October 14, 2014 in Lincoln, Lancaster County, and was buried on October 20, 2014.
