Helen R. Krueger, age 99, of Marion passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville. The former Helen Rosemary Schmidt was born on January 10, 1918 in the Town of Fairbanks, Shawano County, to Frederick and Annetta (Nero) Schmidt. She was united in marriage on February 17, 1941 to John C. Krueger at St. John Lutheran Church, Marion. For many years Helen enjoyed taking care of her family and being a homemaker. She was always a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother. Outside of the home she did work for some years in the 1970’s at Carver Wood Products in Marion. Helen was also employed for some time by Waupaca County Services driving folks wherever they needed to go. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Marion, and was active with so many church projects over the years. Helen liked playing cards at the senior center and attending Marion High School basketball games. She was often seen walking around Marion to stay in shape and will be remembered most for her wonderful sense of humor. Survivors include two children, Donna (Dan) Rindt of Clintonville and John (Annette) Krueger of Marion. There are six grandchildren, Kelly (Shannon) Trebus of Clintonville, Kristopher (Sheri) Krueger of Neenah, Debbie (Bryan) Bonikowske of Manawa, DJ (fiancée Jenni Kroenke) Rindt of Shawano, David (Sandy) Rindt of Shawano, and Derek (Carrie) Rindt of Clintonville. She is further survived by several great grandchildren, a brother Raymond Schmidt of Split Rock, two sisters-in-law Charolette Schmidt of Juneau and Melly Schmidt of Defiance, OH, and many other relatives and friends. Helen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 1978, an infant sister Frances, and five brothers Frederick, Harold, Junnie, Roy E., and Alvin Schmidt. She is further preceded by three sisters-in-law, Betty Lund, Carol Schmidt, and Dorothy Schmidt; and six half-sisters, infant Martha Schmidt, Linda Westphal, Amanda Westphal, Doris Beyer, Clara Pautsch, and Bernice Latchford.
