Jacob "Jake" Gruendyke
Jacob "Jake" Gruendyke born 26 Jan 1825, died 18 April 1905. Jacob Gruendyke was born in New York and travelled to California where he bought a 1600 acre ranch 12 miles east of stockton. He eventually sold this ranch and bought Rancho Guejito which was situated near Escondido, CA. He was quit a businessman as he helped set up San Diego Water Works. He also founded the Bank of Southern California which was in San Diego. Family lore says that he also helped in the building of the Hotel Del Coronado. His ashes are in the family plot in Stockton, California with other family members.

Do you have an Ida Gruendyke who possibly was born in NJ maybe ca 1850-60? I'm traveling and away from my records so can't be accurate. She married and was living in Missouri before 1900.
