Jake (Gerald) Wade doing what he loved to do #fishing.

My dad was my best buddy. He loved me unconditionally, took me on ‘dates’ to the finest restaurants, vacations to his hometown Sault Ste Marie Michigan, and taught me to love basketball and softball. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about him....

My dad was Jake Wade and he was my best friend growing up. He was a smart and successful shipping executive and he required me to be on my toes at all times.
He taught me how to play softball and how to hit and catch the ball. He taught me a lot about finances and not to expect anything from anyone except yourself. He had a very dry sense of humor and it put a smile on my face every time.
My parents eventually divorced and I soon realized it was simply an incompatibility and their relationship from the very beginning. There’s no shame in that but back in the day no one helped you rebuild your relationship or figure it out before you start it and I felt for both of them.
My father was not perfect except in my eyes. Who is back in the day when you have a phone on the wall when I got the car and saw a number from Maryland coming up on the display and I knew this was the call.
I picked up the phone and spoke a few words to my dad and him back to me my last few words were don’t worry Dad I’m on my way to see you I’ll be there very soon hang in there I’m on my way…
In less than 30 minutes or grab it all my belongings threw them in the car my husband was driving and I was praying don’t go dead before I get there.
I’m not sure how much time is past but maybe had been an hour and I got to call and it was Gloria his current wife who told me your father has passed my whole entire heart ripped out of my body and I sobbed I thought I would never stop crying….
Even to this day I cry whenever I think about my dad and how much I loved him how much you meant to me thinks he taught me are priceless.
I know dad when I get to heaven we stand right there at the gates with a big old hug for me a kiss on my forehead that would be the happiest woman in the world to see you I love you

Gerald (Aka Jake) is my dad. I recall my first memory of him when I was crying in my crib and he opened the door and came in to comfort me. He was a quiet man with few words. I recall making him laugh, making him proud and loving him just as much as he loved me. I still miss him everyday...but I know he’s still with me in spirit 🥰😘🙏

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director
My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
