Obituary
JAMES "JIM" C. HOLBROOK, 83, of Springfield went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. He was born January 13, 1931, in Fallsburg, Kentucky, the son of the late C. Denver and May E. (Bradley) Holbrook.

Jim was a retired 24 year veteran of the United States Air Force and served our country proudly during the Vietnam War. He loved his country deeply. Jim was a member of the Shawnee and Dayton Auto Clubs. He was also a member of the Story-Hypes and High Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Judy L. (Murray) Holbrook; two daughters, Dianna S. Laguna of Tucson, AZ and Iris D. (Mark) Stoltz of Springfield; three sons, Jeffrey W. Holbrook of Washington Court House; Bryon K. Holbrook of St. Clair Shores, MI and James M. (Amy) Holbrook of Cleveland Heights; one brother, Dudley (Freda Mullis) Holbrook of Dayton; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six siblings.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Miami Valley for their care.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014 from 2-5 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 am in the High Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Allen and Pastor Tad Hobert officiating.

Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with military honors for Jim.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Miami Valley or High Street United Methodist Church.

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
