James Joseph Ferrara, commonly known as Jimmie Ferrara, was born to Salvadore 'Sam' Ferrara (1886-1976) and Laura (Settipani) Ferrara (1891-1982), and had siblings Rosalia, Thomas, and Anthony.
Jimmie enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on November 9th 1942 and was discharged on April 4th, 1944. He is listed as being in a military hospital in 1944 due to an illness that he had prior to service.
Jimmie Ferrara was a highly acclaimed actor known for his remarkable performances in the films "Tombstone: The Town Too Tough to Die" and its 1942 version. He had the privilege of working alongside the renowned actor Humphrey Bogart in various productions, including the aforementioned "Tombstone: The Town Too Tough To Die," as well as "Gunsmoke" and "Dark Passages." In addition to his successful career, Jimmy formed close friendships with esteemed individuals such as Roy Rogers, Rita Hayworth, Jane Russell, and Lou Costello.
According to an article published on June 1st, 2006, in a Nevada newspaper, James Ferrara, who was 65 years old, was discovered shot in his residence in September 1985. Despite the passage of over 20 years, no leads or arrests were made in connection with Jimmie's murder, and the case went unresolved.
However, a breakthrough occurred in 2006 when a tip from a relative of the shooter led to the arrest of Jimmie's former wife, Delma Troy, along with Donald White from Colorado and Rick Kosterow from Washington state. Rick had been involved in a romantic relationship with Delma, while Donald was a friend of Rick's. All three individuals were convicted in 2006. Both Delma and Rick passed away while serving their prison sentences, but Donald was released in 2018.
"Oxygen: True Crime" did a complete review of the case and a 2021 follow up on all three. See the article at h 'I Really Wish He Was Dead'.

I'm a Founder of AncientFaces and support the community answering questions & helping members make connections to the past (thus my official title of Founder & Content and Community Support ). For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come.
I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US. I am so very proud of my hometown. For more information see Kathy - Founder & Content and Community Director My family began AncientFaces because we believe that unique photos and stories that show who people are/were should be shared with the world.
