John J Beades
John Joseph Beades' father was Michael Beades (1873 - 1940), born in Ireland. His mother was Marie (Hamrock) Beades (1878 - 1941), also born in Ireland. He had siblings Catherine and William. John married Katherine Marie Macdonald (1919 - 1985) and they had two children: John and Carol. Just before World War II, John and Katherine were living in Boston with their newborn daughter, Carol. John had completed his first year of college and he wasn't working. John served during World War II - he enlisted on September 20, 1944 and was discharge on April 10, 1946. After World War II, John and Katherine were living in Boston with their two children, Carol and John Jr. John was a "city counselor" for the city. In 1945, John rand successfully for a seat on the Boston City Council. He served on the Council until 1952. Then he ran for state representative in 1951, and won. In 1954, he left his House seat after winning the Senate race. In the senate, John became the chairman of the Joint Committee on Metropolitan Affairs but he didn't run for re-election in 1962. He was then appointed executive assistant to the metro district commissioner, a post which he held until he died.

For me, it's been a labor of love for over 20 years. I truly believe with all of my heart that everyone should be remembered for generations to come. I am 2nd generation San Jose and have seen a lot of changes in the area while growing up. We used to be known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" (because the Valley was covered with orchards and there were many canneries to process the food grown here, which shipped all over the US) - now we have adopted the nickname "Capital of Silicon Valley" and Apple, Ebay, Adobe, Netflix, Facebook, and many more tech companies are within a few miles of my current home in San Jose (including AncientFaces). From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
