John McPheres B. Hightower Gravesite
John was born 22 Dec 1822 Walton Co., GA, died 3 Apr 1876 Erath Co., TX & was buried there at Hightower Cemetery. He was the fourth of fourteen children of Charnell C. Hightower Sr. & Elon Watts. On 27 Dec 1849 in Cherokee Co., TX, he married Mary Elizabeth Morris, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Morris & Lucretia Glorvina Morris. John & Mary had ten children. Mary is also buried at Hightowwer Cemetery. He was a Texas Mexican War Veteran & a Civil War Veteran.
