RIP Kobe. On January 26, 2020, Kobe Bean Bryant died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas California. There were 4 other people also on the helicopter, including his 13 yr old daughter, Gianna, her teammate, the teammate's parent, and the pilot. They were traveling to a basketball game (Gianna's).

This morning, a helicopter carrying 41 year old Kobe Bryant, his 13 year old daughter, her teammate and a parent, and the pilot crashed in Calabasas CA. All perished. RIP NBA great and LA Laker Kobe.

A professional basketball player, Kobe played his entire career for the LA Lakers. He began his pro career in 1996 and retired in 2016. He was the father of 4 daughters, one of whom, Gianna Marie-Onore Bryant (2006 - 2020) died with him in a chartered plane crash. His wife, Vanessa, 3 of his daughters (Natalia, Bianka, Capri) and his parents survived him. From a small town of 25,000, we have grown to 1 million plus. And when you add in all of the communities surrounding us (for instance, Saratoga, where I attended high school, living a block from our previous Mayor), we are truly one of the big cities in the US.
