Mr. Lawrence Holbrook, 81, of 339 East Jamestown Rd. (West Salem Twp.) Greenville, formerly of 94 Church Rd. (West Salem Twp.) Greenville, PA, passed away at 10:30 AM, Sunday, September 16th, 2007 at St. Paul Homes.

Lawrence was born in Bainbridge, OH on November 21, 1925, the son of the late Allen and Mae (Holocker) Holbrook.

He was the husband of Sandra J. (Stewart) Holbrook. They were married on June 27, 1970.

He was a retired farmer and delivered eggs around town for 25 years and was known as the "Egg Man". He also previously worked at Fenton Lumber for 15 years. He enjoyed children and dressed up as Santa Claus in Central Park for 10 Christmas seasons. Mr. Holbrook loved music, played the accordion, and sang in his church choir. He also sang in the Pennsylvania State Choir in High School.

He graduated from Penn High School in 1944 and was a lifetime member of the former Maysville Community Church. Mr. Holbrook belonged to the former West Salem Grange #1607, enjoyed flowers and antiques, and participated in 4H Work and Senior Extension for 25 years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Holbrook is survived by a daughter: Kathleen (and husband Keith, Sr.) Eddy of Hadley; 2 grandchildren: Keith Eddy, Jr. and Kendra Eddy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Lovine Yarian; and a brother: Arthur Holbrook.

Funeral and Committal Service
Wed. September 19, 2007 , 11:00 AM at Andrew H. Osborne III Funeral Home, Inc.

There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.

Burial
Wed. September 19, 2007 , following the service at Rock Ridge Cemetery

I'm a Christian, and I'm a daughter of Allan B. Holbrook, now in heaven. My married name is Debby Stevens.
My parents, Allan and Marie, were devout Christians, and had 10 children. They were both school teachers, but Mom quit teaching at public school after marriage. But both Mom and Dad home-schooled us all - starting when I was in 1st grade - that's when they came to the decision to home-school us. Dad earned an income through being an English teacher here in Traverse City, for man years. Dad started some Bible meetings that took place in the homes of friends of ours and in our own. He was the main teacher in it, and it was in a discoursing style - he would talk about spiritual things with the fathers of the families, each time, and all the children of the families would sit and listen to it all.
