I was just reading yesterday about the origins of blue for a boy and pink for a girl, and that for a long time both boys and girls wore white. It seems counterintuitive because white on a baby seems like a recipe for disaster, but it was easier to bleach and use strong detergent on to get the inevitable stains out :)
So they could share and hand-me-down! You'd think they would have chosen grey or brown indestructible garments for little ones, for stains and all, but we're lucky they were so pretty.
One, it was easier to bleach. But they also didn’t have ultrasounds, so it was easier to make ONE collection of outfits, instead of a pink set and a blue set.🙂
