Linda was the daughter of Merle Wilhelm & Rhoda Belle (Mayfield) Bringewatt, the first of seven children. She married Jim Atkinson in 1971. She was the mother of Rhonda and Willie, and the step-mother of Cherie & Rick. She died too early to know her grandchildren, Damon, Shelby, Dustin and Brody.
She died on her 40th birthday, in a single-car accident. Her funeral was held in the gymnasium at the Maxwell (NE) High School where her children went to school and where she had worked as the cafeteria manager in the past. In order for her to be buried in the National Cemetery, the funeral had to be held on a weekday, so the school obliged by closing early that Friday afternoon. She was well known and loved by many in the area, and over 300 people attended her funeral.
She is still missed by those who loved her, taken from us much too early.
